Do You Have a Business or Do You Own A Job?

Your success as an entrepreneur is often tied directly to your passion.

When entrepreneurs are passionate about their business and how they use it to serve people and solve problems, the business never feels like a job.

But when we get lost in the grind, our business can end up owning us.

The following is a transcript of the video:

It’s funny, you think when you have your job, and you’re doing your nine to five, you got your benefits, all of a sudden you have no nine to five. It’s nine to nine, it’s six days a week.

It’s the fear, how am I gonna pay rent? How am I gonna pay my people? And you don’t end up having a business; you just end up owning a job, and the job owns you.

I think one of the things that are not dealt with enough in the business and consulting realm is the health of the individual, the entrepreneur, the family with the entrepreneur, the health of the organization, and the health of the employees.

Because, to be honest, if I look at like my team, or if I look at the businesses I’ve worked with in the past, the success that they have is actually more of a byproduct of the people, the quality of the people, and the health of the people involved.

We don’t really talk about that, right?

Like, you could make all the money in the world, be the number one business in your industry, and end up destroying your marriage, have no relationship with your kids, and destroy your body.

Like, no one talks about that. Everything we watch is just a push to get more. While I want amazing success, I’m not willing to put my family on the altar of that success.

I’m not willing to destroy the relationship with my wife or have no relationship with my kids to achieve that success. That’s one of the things that really is part of my passion.

Part of my purpose is to see the fire of why people started businesses in the first place to be reinvigorated. And I’ve felt I’ve seen all sides of entrepreneurship.

I know what it’s like to start a business with this grand, glorious idea. You’ve got this passion, this fire, you see it, you know what it could be like, the impact you could have, the people you could serve, all these different things.

You’re so ready to go.

And then how the business just kind of turns into a job. And in fact, you think when you have your job, and you’re doing your nine to five, you got your benefits, all of a sudden you have no nine to five.

It’s nine to nine, it’s six days a week. It’s the fear, how am I gonna pay? How am I gonna pay rent? How am I gonna pay my people? How am I, and you don’t end up having a business, you just end up owning a job and the job owns you.

And all of a sudden, day to day, week to week, month to month, your greatest concern is, how can I just get by, and the fire of why you started starts to get quenched.

That is something that I am passionately committed to fixing.

I love entrepreneurs. I love people willing to take risks, to create a better life for themselves, their employees, the marketplace, and people.

It’s the most exciting, invigorating, and beautiful thing that we can step into to see someone take those risks.

And that is one of my main purposes, both from the marketing agencies and the mentorship programs that we do, is to keep that fire lit and have amazingly healthy, thriving entrepreneurs.

A thriving entrepreneur is not just one that has a healthy business. A thriving entrepreneur is one who has a healthy body, that has a healthy mindset, that has a healthy marriage, that has a healthy family, that is using business to serve people solve problems, and make an impact.

And being this source of good for a broken, lost world. And I think an entrepreneur, a small business, a midsize business, an entrepreneur can do that.

We’re all about empowering people and businesses, serving people, and solving problems passionately. If your business reflects your passion for this world, our marketing solutions are for you!
